Eight c1960s Vico Magistretti “Carimate” carver chairs in classic Red, completely refurbished. The chairs are professionally painted and the seats re-rushed by an experienced artisan seat weaver with a lead time of approx 4 weeks. We can source more if you are after a larger set. The chairs can be purchased individually, as a set of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10.

The rush seats are in good structural condition with some cosmetic signs of age and occasional loose rushes.

A classic, highly collectible vintage piece that works in any room of the house. These chairs are becoming extremely hard to to find and are becoming more and more dear. It's rare to have the opportunity to purchase a large quantity.

“It was in the 1950s that Magistretti's skill as a designer was unleashed. Working with the craftsmen and entrepreneurs who had long produced furniture in an area to the north of Milan, Magistretti saw possibilities for a new series of well-designed, mass-produced goods. His first great success came with the world famous Carimate chair produced by the Cassina company, headed by Cesare Cassina. The chair was a bestseller for years and mixed rural simplicity (the straw of the seat) with urban sophistication. There were the smooth lines of the wooden supports and legs, the colour and elements of Scandinavian design.

Magistretti had a close relationship with Cassina and had designed his luxurious villa (1964-65) in the town of Carimate, near Como. The series of beautiful, sleek villas in the Brianza hills around Milan built by Magistretti were later described as "Palladio in Brianza".

Some sellers work import tariff charges and customs fees into their pricing or shipping estimates but as a small boutique business we do not have the capacity to do this due to too many variables and the ever changing tariff system in the USA. We act as exporter and you are the importer of record.

All items are shipped with full insurance and should your item be lost or damaged in transit, a full refund will be issued. Refunds cannot be offered for unclaimed items left in customs that end up returned to us at great cost due to import duty not being paid.
